ABERDEEN, S.D.(HubCityRadio)- The Aberdeen City Council at Monday night’s meeting discuss a resolution informing the public about the potential impact IM28(repeal of consumption tax) could have on the city of Aberdeen. The council officially made no official stance regarding support or opposition to the measure.
During the open forum, Julie Johnson who is opposed to IM28 discussed how human consumption is not defined in the South Dakota Tax Code.
Johnson talks about what the LRC(Legislative Research Council) believe will be the impact on the South Dakota budget if passed.
Aberdeen City Manager Robin Bobzien talks about what the purpose of the resolution.
Aberdeen City Attorney Ron Wager(Wag-er) discuss a statement that is on the ballot regarding whether municipalities can do the consumption tax if the state will not be authorized to.
Wager discuss the potential economic impact to the city of Aberdeen if IM28 is passed.
Councilman David Novstrup discussed his concerns about the measure.
