PIERRE, S.D.(DRGNews)- The first numbers from the 2020 U-S Census were released late last week.  The numbers were released on the county level.  Hughes County has 17,765 residents which is up 4.4 percent from the 2010 Census.  Stanley County is at 2,980 residents; up .5 percent.  Sully County is up 5.3 percent at 1446 and Hyde County is down… Read more »

Sturgis Police talks about the biggest issue dealt with at the motorcycle rally

STURGIS, S.D.(KBHB) – Sturgis police say open container violations were their top problem at this year’s motorcycle rally. Sturgis Police Chief Geody VanDewater says it’s due to rally-goers not educating themselves about how the city’s open container system works. The city allowed open containers outside for the first time ever this year. However, beer or wine had to be in a special event cup and was only allowed in a designated area downtown. Signs were posted to inform rally-goers about how the system worked. The city doled out 1,639 open container violations this year. The second biggest violation this year was illegal parking – an annual problem… Read more »
